Student Success Coaching

In my role as a Senior Student Success Coach at National Louis University, I worked with 125-145 first and second year undergraduate students with majors in the School of Education, Business & Technology, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Using NLU's coaching model (featured below), I served as a guide for students' academic, career, and personal success, while also connecting students to wraparound supports and university resources.

Coach Quarterly Meetings and Degree Planning

My conversations with students ranged from topics such as: choosing a major/minor/concentration, degree planning, graduate school options and job outlook, mental health, time management, relationship conflicts, and more.

While coaches are prepared with a quarterly check-in agenda, we are also flexible to discuss whatever is on students' minds. Below you will find a sample quarterly meeting agenda and a graduation overview presentation I made to get a glimpse into what these conversations look like.

Collaboration

Relationship-building is the foundation of our work. This involves collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to enrich our learning community. For example, every two weeks I met with all faculty teaching sophomore students as a part of our Student Success Collaboration (SSC) team to provide solutions and personalized support to students. Additionally, I supported students as they worked to build community with one another by serving as the advisor for two student organizations: First-Generation for College (FG4C) and Built by Womxn. Both of these student organizations were brand new to NLU and aimed to provide opportunities for students to mentor one another and have fun!
