Social and Emotional Learning
As a school counselor, I actively practice and develop my skillset in individual and group counseling and risk assessments. Please read below for more details.

01
Individual Counseling
From one hour sessions with college students to 15-minute solution-focused sessions with high school students, I prioritize building a connection with my clients. I utilize several counseling techniques such as DBT, CBT, mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing. I also find that practicing grounding skills in session allows clients to attune to themselves and feel more at ease to explore their inner world.
02
Group Counseling
I have co-led groups on topics such as family matters and the immigrant experience in the U.S. I like to incorporate narrative and art therapy activities to engage participants and allow them to use their creativity to guide their healing journey.

03
Suicide Prevention
I have experience leading Signs of Suicide (SOS) workshops and subsequent risk assessments based on the B-SAD screener results. It is important for clients, particularly teenagers, to feel safe disclosing suicidal ideation to inform next steps in their treatment plan and ongoing monitoring.
04
Community Referrals
Our work with clients is not done in a vacuum. Thus, I believe that connecting students and families with adequate and affordable health care, childcare, mental health counseling, housing, and other services ensures comprehensive care. Given the linguistically diverse population of students I work with, I also ensure that they have access to translation services to increase their access to resources.
